For the beer lovers across Massachusetts & Rhode Island one of the biggest perks of autumn is the SouthCoast Business Alliance’s annual New Bedford Oktoberfest. This year’s was the thirteenth event and fittingly it occurred on October 13th at City Pier 3 (behind Black Whale). The fest featured many delicious local, and national beers, along with some tasty food and live music from The Pour Men, The Craig DeMelo Band7 Day Weekend and  Joshua Tree (U2 Tribute Band). As always it was a terrific event which benefitted at-risk youth in our community on many levels. People drank and ate and danced, all in support of a great cause.

Helping Our Communities

New Bedford Oktoberfest is the premiere fundraising event for the SCBA and since its inception it has raised over half a million dollars for at-risk youth based programs and other charities in and around Greater New Bedford. Money raised throughout the year goes to supporting existing programs through nonprofits or by helping to create new programs. Past year’s contributions have gone to local organizations like Bristol County’s Children’s Advocacy Center along with many others.Patrons were also encouraged to bring donations of hats, gloves and winter coats which were collected at the door to be given to the “Share The Warmth” drive. Needless to say, Jim Dussault and The Law Office of Dussault & Zatir PC stood proudly among the sponsors, as we have for 5+ years now. We look forward to more community-driven events like this from the good folks at SCBA.
